butterfly

Shortly after my last post I was taking Caden to swim TEAM practice. His coach stopped me to ask if Caden would be participating in that weeks meet. "How is he doing? Is he swimming well enough to compete?" I ask.
She tells me how it all works.... For the 6 and under group, they can stop and hold the side or rope or touch bottom as long as they don't make forward movement while doing so.
"Oh, I didn't know this. In that case as long as he wants to, lets sign him up!" I then talked with him about it and he was so excited to give it a go. Bonus that it was also in Globe, so Grandma Hansen was able to come watch.
He did great and he chose to do the butterfly! Isn't that like the hardest stroke? His coach put him in the outside lane incase he needed the wall. He did stop twice, but did so well. It was fun to watch and he ended up with a 3rd place ribbon! He was pretty nervous. Globe's pool is about 10 meters longer than Kearny's and the young ones start in the deep end and swim to the shallow end, so if they need to touch bottom, they have a better chance of doing so.

About to start his race.

Good job Caden! You'll have to show my girls how to do that!

You need to get that kid a speedo or at least some bike shorts.
