A little project

This summer we relized we wouldn't be selling our house anytime soon. So off the market it went and we jumped into something we've been talking about for a long time. Actually there are a few things we've talked about for a while now, but we decided to build the kids a play/tree house.

Lunch Break!



I lost track of how many trips to Home Depot we've made, but it's coming along.


Partially primed and still need to add the door and windows. The kids and neighbor hood kids have already been enjoying it.

It gets hot building in the middle of summer, so we also spent some quality time visiting with friends and swimming this summer.

A little girl time

Thought I'd share a few pictures of my girls today. They've turned out to be so much more girlie than myself (which I guess, really isn't that hard). They bring a lot to the house and are great helpers.

Paxton eating a sardine & mustard sammy. Don't let the look on her face fool you, she really likes them. Her taste for them comes from Spencer.....I would never even put something like that on my own plate, let alone on one of my children's.


Here is a blast from the past....I loved her curls and miss them. When we cut her hair 6 months or so ago, I was hoping they would have reappeared, but nothing. She's cute with straight hair to though!


Daisy doing what she loves to do. Not many days pass that I don't hear "Mom, lets make a recipe!" She loves to help in the kitchen and especially likes to make chocolate chip cookies


Always dancing. Here she just finished showing us her dance move. Next time you see her ask her to show you. It's a good one. Although she may not be wearing all the accessories seen here, you'll still like it.


Macy is crawling now and pulling herself up to everything. She also recently got her two bottom teeth. She's still a pudgy little thing and we love to pinch her.


And I think her hair is going to stay dark like Daisy's. Sweet Macy Bean Jean.

Bow Ties

Spencer's grandma sent us these great looking bow ties for the boys. If I remember right one of his cousins made them as a fundraiser for girls camp and Grandma McClendon bought up a good number of them and sent them out to all her great grandsons.



I thought they looked handsome! You cant tell from the picture, but Caden was not happy about wearing it. He smiled all sweet and happy like and as soon as I said we were done he ran to his room, took it off and replaced it with a regular necktie.
He is already concerned with appearances and didn't even want to put it on for the picture. I hope it doesn't last.

Daisy is all about getting into every photo possible.

Summer -Part 2

Memorial day we went to Tucson for the morning and visited with the Gibson family. It went like other memorial days past....meet at Spencer's Grandpa's grave site. Visit, remember him and hear stories of his life. Afterward we hop on over to a church park and visit more, eat, play softball, jumping castle & water fun for the kids. It's always a nice day and a good crowd!

A few days later we traveled up to Pinetop to spend a couple of days visiting with my Mom & Asa. We did this last year too with them and had such a nice time that we all decided to do it again this year.


Upon arriving at the resort the kids quickly changed for a nice dip in the pool.

Other on-site activities the kids enjoyed were the game room, playground, basketball, teatherball and others





We spent an afternoon visiting with my Uncle Doug & Aunt Susan and their kids. Doug made us dinner and it was delish. He made 2 roasts in his pit. I've never had such amazing flavor and such a juicy roast as this was. He made his own BBQ sauce as well and there was other food to, but all I can remember was the meat. Mmmmm!

Summer rundown: Part 1

Well, summer has been wonderful to this point. We've been busier than I thought we'd be, which I don't mind at all. I was worried at the beginning of summer how I was going to keep the troops entertained for the 10 week break. We've been at a nice steady pace of busy, and events/things-to-do have been evenly spaced out. We're down to the last 4 weeks before school is back in session. Surely I can make it through 4 more weeks!
We had little league. This year Caden and Paxton were in two different leagues, so it made for a lot of nights at the ball field. Fun nights though. Caden's team was all LDS kids except for one, so we were always in good/fun company. I failed in taking pictures this year. Not even one of either child. I do however have a picture of Daisy. One night at a game, while running full speed, she tripped and her face broke her fall. It happened right in front of a lady who then carried her to me. She said she hit her face first. I checked and she didn't have even the smallest scratch on her hands or knees. Her nose bled like crazy, but she came out of it all ok.

We took a quick overnight camp out. This worked out nicely with being able to drop Macy off at G-ma/G-pa Hansen's for the night on our way up to the Pinals. It was a cold evening, but much fun. We shared the mountain that night with a stake from Mesa for their Father and Sons activity.




The kids requested scary stories and Spencer rattled off a few. Since that night Daisy has been telling the same stories. Next time you see her, ask her to tell you about "LARGE MARGE". Another one of my favorites that she tells, starts out with her in her scary voice saying, "Once upon a time, there was a man. And she was a girl...." She also likes to hold a flashlight below her chin, shining it up, while telling a story. She's a little riot!

Oh, yeah. In case you weren't aware, I'm a mom! So I decided I would have a picture taken this year with all my lovely children on mothers day.

A funny little story I'll share, because you can see the evidence here in the photo...

One day I was talking to Caden about kids at school and how sometimes they tease others. And that sometimes something may be true about someone, it can hurt their feelings if others are always bringing it up and talking about it.
He said, "yeah, like sometimes my friends at school will say that I look like I'm Chinese." I couldn't help but let out a little laugh. Then I apologized and told him he could blame me for that one. I got that all the time as a youth. IN fact I still get it. Spencer teases me all the time about my squinty little eyes!

So here we stand out in the bright sunlight of the morning and I see that possibly 3 of my 5 kids have my eyes.

Show and Tell

Fridays are Show and Tell for Paxton's Kindergarten class. She's been asking for a while now to take her violin. I finally agreed and took it up at the end of the day for her.

She played them 2 different songs and had their undivided attention. She did really well on the songs she chose to play. She has been playing now for about 10 months and is doing great.


She is taking lessons from our friends daughter, Lexi, who is 11. She is amazing with music. In addition to violin, Lexi is also learning piano and saxophone. Paxton saw her play at her brothers baptism and was mesmerized. Soon after that day she and Lexi got together and made a plan. Lexi wants to be a music teacher when she's older, so she wanted to see what it would be like to teach someone and Paxton was all to willing to be the student! It's working out well for both of them.
