Let the games begin

Monday was opening ceremonies for Kearny Little League and Caden's first game was Wednesday. This year he is in "coach pitch" and is really enjoying it. He likes going to practice and loves to get in extra practice with Dad in the yard. We got him a bat this year because he is hitting off a pitch and he like to keep track of how many throws he and Spencer can make back and forth in a row. Last week the high was 14, this week he came in the house excited to report they got to 45 before Spencer dropped it! Ha. Okay, Caden missed it, but now he is looking to beat his new record. Daisy is often found walking around with Paxton's princess shoes on lately. This day, the poor girl wasn't dressed yet and as you can see she got the short end of the stick with her mothers build. Look at those thick legs. Spencer and I have often said, if the girls could get his legs and the boys could get mine, they'll be set! She's our stout one! Precious and wild as can be though!

I felt the need to post pictures of these sweet girls. Daisy needs to get just a little more attention drawn to her as her time as "the baby" is closing in on her quick. She has about 3 1/2 weeks left to enjoy being "the tiniest" and then she gets bumped.
Daisy is such a funny little girl. One of her things now is to open her mouth up wide and it is just funny! Maybe you really need to be present to see the humor/joy of it all. So here she is, wide open and happy as always.




These were taken a few weeks back. Paxton is all about fashion. She is always talking about what and who is fashionable. I rarely make the cut, but here she is getting ready to help me out and start in on doing my hair.

Giddy for platinum

Saturday we spent the day in Mesa starting out the morning with a bike race, Tour de Phoenix. Spencer, his dad, and two of his brothers all rode (72 miles). It was a beautiful day for such an event. I dont have pic's of them all, but here is Spencer (white/red jersey) and his dad (royal blue/black) at the start. His older brother Taylor is somewhere further up lined up with all the platinum racers(he is good and races alot).

Spencer did really well and finished with a platinum time! His first platinum and he is excited as you may guess. His dad also finished platinum as well as Todd (a friend of ours from Globe) and of coarse Taylor did. Kimball finished as a gold and did great also.

Then we get the next generation of Hansen cyclists ready for the kid/family fun race of 4 miles. Caden has been excited for a month or two knowing this was coming and has been riding his bike along side Spencer on his runs. Here they are getting ready to go line up. Also there on rollerblades was AJ who bladed the 4 mile course! Barrett ended up settling for the 1/4 mile course, Quinten and Jill finished and at about the 3 mile mark, Caden got a flat. He was disappointed, but after we talked to him about him doing his best up until that point, he was happy. Grandma Hansen was riding along with Caden, so he wasn't totally stranded out there. Thanks Grandma!

Post race the kids were running wild, enjoying the free snowcones, snacks and jumping castle. It was a fun morning.


Later that evening all the adults met up at The Landmark Restaraunt in Mesa for Lincoln's birthday dinner. Mom and Dad Hansen treated and it was a great place to eat. A common favorite for the evening was the delicious raspberry sherbert between entree's to "cleanse the palate"! No pictures to share, but thanks Mom and Dad Hansen.

The meaning of

PAXTON likes to let us know when she has learned something new. The other day she came to me and said,
"Mom, I know what Maybe means."

"Really, what does it mean?"

"It means I don't want to tell you NO right now."

CADEN was outside with Spencer and they were working on Cadens bike getting it ready for his upcoming race. I took Daisy out front with them and asked Spencer,
"Do you care if I leave her out here with you?"

"No."

So as I'm stepping back in through the door I make eye contact with Caden and he is watching me carefully. I begin to wonder if he understood the way I asked that question. I watch him as I slowly close the door and just as I get to where I cant see him and the door is about closed, I hear him say
"Don't you know what No means?"

I open the door back up and Spencer and I laugh. Spencer was thinking the same as me, that he hadn't understood the question as asked. I had to explain the conversation to him.

What does this mean? Does Caden watch to much TV or is he just smart and figures out an alternate way of getting me to understand what he is talking about?

I came into the room and he was watching a Spongebob that had just gone to commercial. He starts to tell me about it...
"Mom, Mr. Crabs had to go to the hospital but they made him leave because he didnt have esuanse."

"He didn't have what?"

"Esuanse."

"What?"

He stops for a second and thinks and then tells me,
"Mom, you know that commercial that says 'Nationwide is on your side'."

"Oh insurance."

"Yeah, insurance! Mr. Crabs didn't have any insurance."
