run down

We had a nice long weekend. Spencer did a small group bicycle ride Saturday in Globe and took the kids with him and they stayed with G-ma. I had a meeting that morning at church and then a little free time to myself before Spence finished and we met up in Superior and on to the valley we went.

A nice afternoon there and we had planned to take the kiddos to a $1 movie, but found out that the superstition cinemas is now closed. Dang it. We are now left to believe the only discount theater still open is Tempe cinemas and that is a bit of a drive further into the city when we can now get most everything done without passing Power Rd. Oh well, I guess we are going to have to stop being so dang cheap.

So MLK day we kicked back at home. Spencer worked the day shift and then played a little football with Caden. Paxton is funny. Anytime they are out playing catch, she runs in and is so excited and dresses quickly in her little cheerleader clothes, grabs the pom poms and tells me she is going to be their cheerleader. She is usually to going to fast to bother taking off her clothes and just puts the cheer clothes on over her days clothes.

The first time this happened Spencer said he was so embarrassed (in a fun way) as she cheered and neighborhood traffic drove by. She loves to cheer and I have no idea where she gets it from. I try VERY hard to get her to love sports more, but I think it is a losing battle with her. I'm starting to accept that that is what she wants to be and I will have to focus on keeping Daisy from following that path!

Here is a little look back photo for one day in the future.
Later that night I cleaned out Caden's folder for school the next day and I saw this and thought it was fun, so I'm including it for you all to see.

Join me for part of our Tuesday night dinner conversation, taking place between Caden and I. (X to take place of the other childrens names, to protect their young identeties.)

Mom, what is six?
What do you mean? You know what the number six is.
No, what is six?
You'll have to tell me more so I know what your talking about. (At this point I felt like I knew what he was talking about, but wanted to make sure.)
Well, a kid at school said, " all the boys have six (sex) with 'X girl'."
What? Who said that?
"X boy." (Also in Cadens K class, age 5)
He did?
Yes......

What the *%#@? I didn't think I would even come close to giving this talk for a while. So we clear things up, at a 5 year old level, and reassured him we would talk more about it when he was just a little older. He seemed to be ok with that.
And to close, tonight as things were winding down. The baby has been moving alot and it's now to the point that you can see or feel it from the outside. So I was telling the kids and they would watch or feel my stomach. Well, Caden wanted to talk to the baby and wanted to make sure he could hear him so he told me to open my mouth so that he could talk into it to the baby. So whenever Caden or Paxton want to say something to the baby now I have to open my mouth so he can hear them as they talk into it like they are placing an order through a drive-thru intercom!

Oh dear Lisa!I think that Caden would have had to start CPR on me as I would be passed out on the floor. You must email me for some great Christian sex ed stuff we have. And I am NOT going to mention that you would be a great homeschool mom! Hint Hint

Kids come with their own personalities that's for sure. My youngest has not liked the sports we have tried so far: soccer 2 years and t-ball 2 years. I think God probably laughs at the parents who have expectations for their kids. Good luck with that little cheerleader!

That is too cute! I have one sports fanatic and the other one has nothing to do with it.....we will survive.

Its what Workes said...

I think you deserve a sassy cheerleader! lol Tell Caden that he has to push the belly button while he talks into your mouth, like an intercom. I'm glad that you are still updating, it is too funny to hear about what is going on in your sweet little family
